Ok, so I'm sorry it has taken me almost a month to do another post for this blog series, but I became really busy right after I started this blog so I haven't been able to dedicate as much time to it as I would like to. Some of you may already be familiar with Somi from her song Ingele which got a lot of airplay on BETJ & VH1 Soul about 3 years ago. Somi's voice is as cool and gentle as the breeze and is as textured & earthy a Mississippi red clay. This is what Jazz Times magazine has to say about her live performance: "the earthy gutsiness of Nina Simone blended with the vocal beauty of Dianne Reeves". I think that sums it up perfectly.
